AKP Phnom Penh, December 16, 2025 --

Thai military forces have continued their large-scale aggressive attacks against Cambodia’s Military Regions 4 and 5, particularly in Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Pursat, and Banteay Meanchey provinces.

According to H.E. Lt. Gen. Maly Socheata, Spokeswoman of the Ministry of National Defence, since early this morning Thai forces have shelled the areas of Preah Vihear Temple and Tamone Temple, the O’Phluk Damrey area, and Chouk Chey village using heavy artillery. Their infantry units, supported by tanks, also attempted to infiltrate Prey Chan village and fired toxic gas into the area.

She added that the situation in other areas has remained calm, but Cambodian forces continue to closely monitor developments and remain on high alert.

For his part, H.E. Pen Bona, Head of the Royal Government Spokesperson Unit, called on compatriots to remain vigilant against psychological warfare being waged by the Thai side alongside armed attacks, aimed at undermining morale and weakening solidarity between the Cambodian people and their leaders.

He noted that such tactics include the dissemination of false information through social media and official channels, the distortion of facts, and the creation of fake social media accounts posing as Cambodian citizens.

However, he stressed that the Cambodian people have not fallen into these traps and have actively and promptly countered such attempts.

H.E. Pen Bona appealed to all Cambodians, both at home and abroad, to continue upholding national unity, which he described as a source of national pride and a powerful force capable of defeating any invading enemy.
